KSG ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY

Amateur athletes in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, New York, West Virginia, Ohio and Washington D.C. are eligible to compete in the annual Keystone State Games Festival of Sports except for the sports of Baseball, Field Hockey and Ice Hockey.

KSG BASEBALL, FIELD HOCKEY & ICE HOCKEY ELIGIBILITY:

  • An athlete must meet ONE of the following criteria:
    - A full-time Pennsylvania resident within the region for 30 days prior to first day of tryouts.
    - A full-time Pennsylvania student at a recognized academic institution in the region.

PSG ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY

In 2014, the Pennsylvania Senior Games will be open to all states.  Athletes who will be 50 years of age or older as of December 31, 2014 may participate.  Age groups are 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, and 100+ for both males and females.

Open State Policy: The Pennsylvania Senior Games will permit out-of-state residents to participate in the 2014 PSG competition. If an out-of-state resident qualifies for National Senior Games Association (NSGA) competition he/she will not take away qualifying spot from a state resident.  Doubles and mixed doubles teams which have individuals from 2 different states will be considered an out-of state team.  Out-of-state qualifying follows the rules prescribed by the NSGA.

If a (Basketball, Softball, or Volleyball) team from out-of-state qualifies for NSGA competition, that team will not take away a qualifying spot from a Pennsylvania (PA) resident team unless the PA team determines they will not utilize that position.

The Pennsylvania Senior Games reserves the right to cancel or consolidate events where such action is warranted. Athletes must compete to be eligible for a medal. The age division of doubles teams is determined by the age of the younger partner.

NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES

2014 is a qualifying year for the 2015 National Senior Games that will take place in 2015 National Senior Games in Bloomington/Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota July 3 - 16, 2015. Not all PSG sports are contested at the National Senior Games.  Please check sport text for qualifying events.

AGE AND SKILL LEVEL REQUIREMENTS
All athletes must meet the age and skill level requirement for their sport.  Every sport has their own defined age and skill levels.

AGE DETERMINATION

For all sports, you must register at your CURRENT level and age group as defined by each sport.  For example, if you qualified as a 9 & under team in 2011, you may be an 11 & under team for 2013 State Games of America.  Age determining dates for each sport are listed under the individual sports page.

In the event of injury or illness requiring hospital treatment, expenses must be paid by the participant. The agreement and consent form previously signed by the participant and/or parent contains a medical treatment clause, which is important in case treatment is necessary.

Persons attending the Games are asked to establish a telephone number at their hotel or competition venue and relay this information back home.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If the competition is held, as scheduled or rescheduled, there is no refund of the registration/finals fee. The option is the individual’s or team’s as to whether to compete or not. If the competition is cancelled by the Keystone State Games, and not rescheduled, and there is no opportunity for the individual or team to compete, then there may be a full or partial refund depending on the circumstances. This policy is for all Keystone State Games and Premier Amateur Sports sporting events.

PROTESTS

No protests on judgment calls or rules interpretations are allowed.  Any disagreements must be resolved before continuation of play.  The referee's decision is final.  The only protests allowed are for ineligible players - an older division player participating in a younger division.
