Athlete Eligibility

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY:
Any athlete who won a medal in their local 2011, 2012, or 2013 State Games, or the 2011 State Games of America, in one of the sports offered is eligible to compete.

2013 State Games of America will be combined with the Keystone State Games.  In addition to the eligible athletes listed above all eligible athletes for the annual Keystone State Games (which include New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, New York, West Virginia, Ohio, and Washington D.C.) are eligible to compete at the 2013 State Games of America.

The State Games of America have been organized in accordance with National Governing Bodies guidelines with some exceptions.  Athletes who have eligibility questions should check with their school athletic administrator or coach.  Any athlete with scholastic or collegiate eligibility remaining must comply with rules governing his or her scholastic or collegiate eligibility.

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY EXCEPTIONS:

FIGURE SKATING:
Competition is open to all female and male skaters who meet at least ONE of the following guidelines:

  • A full-time resident of Pennsylvania.
  • A full-time student at an academic institution in Pennsylvania.
  • A registered member of a figure skating club in Pennsylvania. The club must be the athlete’s exclusive “contact” within the sport.
  • Athletes that have won a medal in their local 2011, 2012, or 2013 State Games Figure Skating Competitions that have received an invitation to the 2013 State Games of America
  • An athlete that received a medal at the 2011 State Games of America in San Diego.
  • This competition is sanctioned by the US FIGURE SKATING and endorsed by the ISI.

GYMNASTICS:
Competition is open to amateur athletes who meet at least ONE of the following guidelines:

  • A full-time resident of Pennsylvania and or A full-time student at an academic institution in Pennsylvania that has participated in the 2011, 2012 or 2013 Keystone State Games Gymnastics competition.
  • A registered member of a gymnastics club in Pennsylvania and or eligible athletes for Keystone State Games gymnastics programs from surrounding states that have participated in the 2011, 2012 or 2013 Keystone State Games Gymnastics competition.
  • Athletes that have won a medal in their local 2011, 2012, or 2013 State Games Gymnastics Competitions that have received an invitation to the 2013 State Games of America
  • An athlete that received a medal at the 2011 State Games of America in San Diego.

KSG BASEBALL, FIELD HOCKEY & ICE HOCKEY::

  • An athlete must meet ONE of the following criteria:
    - A full-time Pennsylvania resident within the region for 30 days prior to first day of tryouts.
    - A full-time Pennsylvania student at a recognized academic institution in the region.

 AGE AND SKILL LEVEL REQUIREMENTS

All athletes must meet the age and skill level requirement for their sport.  Every sport has their own defined age and skill levels.

AGE DETERMINATION
For all sports, you must register at your CURRENT level and age group as defined by each sport.  For example, if you qualified as a 9 & under team in 2011, you may be an 11 & under team for 2013 State Games of America.  Age determining dates for each sport are listed under the individual sports page.

ROSTER CHANGES
For team sports, you are allowed up to 50% of your roster to change from the year you qualified for the State Games of America.
